What People Are Saying:

A great program to learn how to help people overcome mental health challenges in the field ... Also a great way to be more aware of what we can do on a daily basis to make our workplaces healthier.

— Brinkman Reforestation participant

We enrolled our field and safety staff in a MHWFA course during staff orientation. Daye worked with us in advance of the course to customize it to our program and participant demographics. She did an amazing amount of research and even changed the course plan during the class to accommodate our questions and interests. ... More than anything, our staff benefit from having a shared language to talk about mental health. We are better able to support our participants and each other because of the course.

- Ali Dibble, Program Manager, Juneau Icefield Research Program

Most valuable to us was the curriculum surrounding trauma, and providing supporting after a traumatic event. ... Considering the likelihood of such events happening in our field work, it’s incredibly reassuring to have a strategy to handle such events and that we can really make a difference in the processing of the trauma.

— Stony Brook University, Anthropology Field School grad student

The Mental Health Wilderness First Aid course is now an integral part of our staff training and the Outward Bound Training Academy for Outdoor Professionals. This is an invaluable training, equipping our staff and trainees with practical tools to support our students better and manage mental health crises in the field. Because of the national scope of our programs we have gone with the online option. Daye and her team are incredibly skilled facilitators - even in the online format participants have found the training practical, engaging and relevant to both their personal and professional lives.

— Fiona Hough, Curriculum Manager, Outward Bound Canada Training Academy

Essential mental health training for anybody working in the wilderness!
